About us

CalcCoverage (calccoverage.com) is a free site of DIY and home-improvement calculators, built for homeowners and weekend builders in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and everywhere else a project gets measured before it gets built.

Who is behind it

This site is created and maintained by a small independent team — the CalcCoverage team. Everything published here appears under the site's name, never under a person's name. If a calculator gives a wrong answer, that is on the team, and we fix it: the contact page is how you tell us.

How we work

Every calculator uses the standard formula for its material (for example, 145 lb per cubic foot for hot-mix asphalt) and shows that formula on the page with a worked example. Results are given in buying units — bags, yards, tons, gallons, boxes — with the waste allowance stated plainly, because a number you cannot buy is only half an answer.

Privacy by design

All calculations run in your browser. We do not ask for sign-up and we do not receive or store the measurements you type. Your imperial/metric preference is stored only in your own browser.

A note on estimates

Results are planning estimates. Materials vary — stone density, paint coverage, soil compaction — so confirm critical quantities with your supplier before a big order.
